Este filme tem a sua origem numa viagem realizada à Nova Inglaterra (EUA), onde conhecemos um conjunto de pessoas responsáveis por departamentos de universidades e coletividades sociais relacionadas com a comunidade portuguesa, e ficámos assoberbados com a paixão, dedicação e capacidade de alguns desses elementos (se não de todos...).
O filme pretende retratar em particular uma comunidade portuguesa na Nova Inglaterra, maioritariamente açoriana, através de um discurso direto, por parte de algumas personalidades locais, com base na sua opinião e histórias de vida.
São entrevistas a um conjunto de homens e mulheres sobre a própria comunidade, e a sua visão desse grupo de pessoas e consequente relação com Portugal.
Achamos importante abordar esta temática sobre uma Nova Inglaterra profundamente "portuguesa" e “açoriana”.
O objetivo é deixar os entrevistados falarem abertamente sobre o que sentem em relação ao grupo a que pertencem, tecerem considerações sobre as relações existentes entre grupos, e deixarem transparecer os seus sentimentos.
É urgente uma maior relação entre Portugal e as suas comunidades emigradas, neste caso particular, da Nova Inglaterra (e dos Açores), mas em termos gerais, a todas as comunidades que se encontram bem enraizadas nos países de destino.

This film has its origin in a trip to New England (USA), where we met a group of people responsible for university departments and social collectivities related to the Portuguese community, and we were overwhelmed with the passion, dedication and capability of some of these elements (if not all ...).
The film intends to portray a particular Portuguese community in New England, mostly Azorean, through a direct speech by some local personalities based on their opinion and life stories.
These are interviews with a group of men and women about their own community, and their view of this group of people and their consequent relationship with Portugal.
We think it is important to address this theme about a deeply "Portuguese" and "Azorean" New England.
The goal is to let respondents talk openly about what they feel about the group to which they belong, make considerations about the relationships between groups, and let their feelings flow.
A greater relationship between Portugal and its emigrant communities is urgent, in this particular case from New England (and the Azores), but in general terms to all communities that are well rooted in the countries of destination.
